Accepting the gift of travel expenses from the National League of Cities for Daniel Yang, Mayor’s Office, Senior Policy Advisor, to attend the Mayors’ Education Policy Advisors’ Network 2019 Convening, October 16-18, 2019, Orlando, Florida.

WHEREAS, The National League of Cities (“NLC”) is dedicated to helping city leaders build better communities. Working in partnership with the 49 state municipal leagues, NLC serves as a resource to and an advocate for the more than 19,000 cities, villages and towns it represents, by strengthening and promoting cities as centers of opportunity, leadership, and governance; and
WHEREAS, Education Policy Advisors’ Network, (“EPAN”) is a national network to support mayoral leadership in education and to develop and share best practices for the ways that cities, school districts, colleges and universities, businesses and other partners can work together to improve educational outcomes in their communities from cradle to career and beyond; and
WHEREAS, Daniel Yang, Senior Policy Advisor,Noa has been invited to attend the Mayors’ Education Policy Advisors’ Network 2019 Convening, October 16- 18, 2019, in Orlando, FL; and
WHEREAS, The National League of Cities has offered to cover the travel expenses, lodging and meals for Daniel Yang to attend the convening; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Saint Paul finds that attendance at this convening is beneficial to the City by providing an opportunity for participants to engage in sessions to develop expertise, obtain practical knowledge on the topic and development of a professional network; now therefore, be it
RESOLVED, that the City Council accepts the gift of travel expenses, lodging and meals for Daniel Yang to attend the National League of Cities’ Institute for Youth, Education, and Families (NLC-IYEF) convening of their Mayors’ Education Policy Advisors Network (EPAN) in Orlando and thanks the National League of Cities for its generous gift.
