Accepting a grant of $1,500 from Target corporation from its Public Safety grant project to be used for the National Night Out program.
Body
WHEREAS, the City of Saint Paul, Police Department (SPPD) was approved for a grant in the amount of $1,500 from Target, the national sponsor of National Night Out and community partner in National Night Out events; and
WHEREAS, the SPPD would like to accept the grant/donation from the Target Inc, establish 2011 financing and spending for these funds; and
WHEREAS, the public purpose of this event is to help promote National Night Out Events organizing in the City of Saint Paul, which connects neighbors, communities, and partnership with the residents and police for a night to give crime and drugs a going away party; and
WHEREAS, $1,000 of this grant will be used to purchase items to distribute to non-profit organizations and event locations, which includes but not limited to: official National Night Out banner, balloons, wrist bands, tattoos, party beads, bracelets, American Flags, USA flag mints, fans, gift cards, candies ; and
WHEREAS, the balance of $500 will be used for the preparation, evaluation and submission of post report to the National Night out town watch; and
WHEREAS, the Mayor, pursuant to Section 10.07.1 of the City Charter, does certify that there are funds of $1,500 available for appropriation in excess of those estimated in the 2011 budget; and
WHEREAS, the Mayor recommends the following changes to the 2011 budget:
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council accepts this generous donation, extends its sincere thanks to Target corporation.
