Title

Amending the financing and spending plan of the Saint Paul Public Library Agency in the amount of $920,000.00 to reflect the multi-year transfer of grant funds received on the library’s behalf by The Friends of the Saint Paul Public Library from The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation.

 

Body

WHEREAS, The Friends of the Saint Paul Public Library applied for and were awarded funds from the Mellon Foundation to support community responsive programming and associated staffing at the Saint Paul Public Library; and 

 

WHEREAS, the period of this grant is May 1, 2026, to June 30, 2029, over which time The Friends of the Saint Paul Public Library will make annual fund transfers to the Saint Paul Public Library; and

 

WHEREAS, there is no match amount required of these funds by the City and other supporting agencies; and 

 

WHEREAS, the Library Board of the City of Saint Paul finds that funds to support the development of community response programming have a public purpose; and

 

WHEREAS, the Saint Paul Public Library wishes to accept these funds and utilize the funding through the spending plan that has been developed; and 

 

WHEREAS, the Saint Paul Public Library wishes to amend the 2026 financing and spending budget to reflect this additional funding; and 

 

WHEREAS, the Mayor, pursuant to Section 10.07.01 of the Charter of the City of Saint Paul, does certify that there are available for appropriation, funds of $920,000.00 in excess of those estimated in the current budget; now, therefore, be it 

 

RESOLVED, that the Library Board of the Saint Paul Public Library Agency authorizes acceptance of the grant funds and approves said amendment to the budget.
