Setting the City Recycling Service Fee for 2021 and authorizing Public Works to request $740,709 in SCORE base grant and $48,200 in SCORE incentive grant funds from Ramsey County to support the residential recycling program and additional waste diversion initiatives. WHEREAS, setting the City Recycling Service Fee for 2021 and requesting SCORE grant funds from Ramsey County will allow the City to continue the collection and processing of recyclables through 2022; and
WHEREAS, Ramsey County encourages cities to request Incentive Grant funds beyond the base SCORE funds to support waste diversion initiatives; and
WHEREAS, the request of $48,200 in SCORE Incentive Grant funds from Ramsey County will allow the City to establish resources for residents and businesses on food waste reduction, recovery and recycling, as well as complete Phase II of a Multiunit Dwelling (MUD) project; and
WHEREAS, the request of the SCORE incentive grant funds from Ramsey County will further the City’s goals to divert 50% of residential waste generated from the garbage; and
WHEREAS, in order to continue service in 2021 for weekly curbside collection of recyclables, the City Recycling Service Fee in 2021 shall be set at $60.24 per unit in residential buildings with one to three units (SUD) including condominiums, and $38.16 per unit in residential buildings with four or more units (MUD), for support of the Citywide curbside and multi-family/city buildings recycling collection programs conducted under contract with Eureka Recycling; and
WHEREAS, this represents a .03% and .06% increase for SUD and MUD properties, respectively to the 2021 City Recycling Fee rates; now
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the proper City officials are hereby authorized and directed to request 2021 SCORE grant funds from Ramsey County in the amount of $740,709 in SCORE base grant and $48,200 in SCORE incentive grant funds for support of the Citywide re...
