Approving the Mayor’s reappointment of Wesley Farrow to the Saint Paul Neighborhood Network.

WHEREAS, the Saint Paul Neighborhood Network (SPNN) is a 501 (c) 3 non-profit that harnesses its unique media tools, digital communications expertise, and spirit of innovation to elevate community media arts to a new level, becoming a national model; and
WHEREAS, the Saint Paul Neighborhood Network is comprised of four departments which include the Access Center, the Youth Department, the Community Production Department, and the Community Technology Empowerment Project, which empowers youth and underrepresented populations, offer classes on media production, and provide access to an edit lab, studio, and media equipment; and
WHEREAS, the Saint Paul Neighborhood Network offers a continuum of direct services and boasts four cable channels to cultivate a more enriched, equitable, and vibrant Twin Cities region. In FY15, Saint Paul Neighborhood Network directly served 4,194 people and reached a television viewership of 55,000 households; and
WHEREAS, the Saint Paul Neighborhood Network. As stated in their ARTICLE V Section 3 Bylaws of the Saint Paul Neighborhood Network, shall be represented by up to twelve (12) Directors, elected to staggered terms by the Board of Directors, which the St. Paul City Council and the Mayor, acting through the Open Appointments Process, may appoint up to three (3) Directors to the Board; and .
WHEREAS, Wesley Farrow has applied to serve as a member of the Saint Paul Neighborhood Network Board of Directors and has been recommended for appointment by Martin Ludden, Executive Director of the Saint Paul Neighborhood Network; and
WHEREAS, Mayor Melvin Carter wishes to reappoint Wesley Farrow to Saint Paul Neighborhood Network; now, therefore be it
RESOLVED, that the Saint Paul City Council approves the reappointment of Wesley Farrow to a three-year term on Saint Paul Neighborhood Network ending March 31, 2023.
