Authorizing the Police Department to provide a stipend in the amount of $1700.00, paid over a period of four quarters for the services of the Saint Paul Police Band Secretary that fall outside of the police department's duties and responsibilities.

WHEREAS, the Saint Paul Police Band is a non-profit group that exists solely to promote the Saint Paul Police Department through its social engagements; and
WHEREAS, the Saint Paul Police Band plays at department and other functions including parades and special events for no charge to the department for instruments; and
WHEREAS, the public purpose of the Saint Paul Police Band is the promoting of the city and departments image; and
WHEREAS, the secretary of the band provides services necessary to the operation of the band; and
WHEREAS, the City of Saint Paul Police Department wishes to provide a stipend in the amount of $1700.00, paid over a period of four quarters ($425.00/quarter) for the services of the band secretary that fall outside of the police departments duties and responsibilities; and
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the proper city official(s) are hereby authorized to pay for costs associated with the band secretary, not to exceed $1,700.00.
