Stated Reason for Appeal (if given): Property owner never used trash service. The property is currently unoccupied as he does not live at the property during the winter. see included Summary of the comment from the resident.
Staff Comments: Under citywide garbage service, all residential properties with up to four units, including rental homes and townhomes, are required to have a garbage cart and receive garbage service for each dwelling unit. There is no option to opt out of the citywide garbage service. If the property owner is away during the winter, he may request a temporary service hold with his hauler. The City can provide more information on the service hold if he would like to utilize this option. Additionally, there are 4 different service levels available under the citywide garbage service. The City can help the property owner coordinate a change in service level to more appropriately fit his service needs moving forward. However, because the property was not reported as vacant and there was no temporary service hold placed on the property, garbage service was provided for the 64-gallon Medium cart from October through December 2018. The property owner is responsible for the delinquent charge.
