Accepting a $50,000 grant from the McKnight Foundation for a Pedestrian Safety Advocate Position within the Department of Public Works.

 

Body

WHEREAS, the McKnight Foundation has awarded a $50,000 grant to the City of Saint Paul to assist with the hiring of a Pedestrian Safety Advocate Position within the Department of Public Works; and,

 

WHEREAS, the Pedestrian Safety Advocate will plan, organize and implement programs and projects to improve walkability and reduce pedestrian crashes within the city; and,

 

WHEREAS, this grant will be matched with funds identified in the 2017 Department of Public Works budget for this position; and,

 

WHEREAS, the City of Saint Paul has the legal authority to accept this grant and the institutional, managerial and financial capability to ensure that it is successfully executed;

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Saint Paul hereby approves and accepts the $50,000 grant from the McKnight Foundation for a Pedestrian Safety Advocate Position within the Department of Public Works; and,

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the City Council thanks the McKnight Foundation for their support of pedestrian safety initiatives within the city.
