Authorizing the City on behalf of the Parks and Recreation Department to apply for grant funds of $4,000 from National Recreation and Park Association.

WHEREAS the Saint Paul Parks & Recreation Department is requesting permission to apply for $4,000 in grant funds from the National Recreation and Parks Association Million Coaches Challenge grant to Champion Positive Youth Development; and
WHEREAS, the grant funds, if awarded, will provide youth coaches training from the Center For Healing and Justice Through Sport to ensure coaches are prepared to help their players thrive, provide meals and transportation for coaches to attend trainings; and
WHEREAS there is no required match of these funds by the City; and
WHEREAS the Council of the City of Saint Paul finds that the expenditure of these funds to provide youth coach trainings and provide meals and transportation; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Saint Paul authorizes the Saint Paul Parks and Recreation Department to apply for the Million Coaches Challenge grant with National Recreation and Park Association to accept these funds.
