Authorizing the Fire Department to donate a 1991 Ford fire engine to the Minnesota Children's Museum.

Body

WHEREAS, Chapter 2.02 of the Saint Paul Administrative Code authorizes the Division of Contract and Analysis Services to dispose of surplus city property and sets the procedures governing the sale or donation of such property, and

WHEREAS, the Fire Department has received a written request (Attachment A) from the Minnesota Children's Museum, a not-for-profit organization asking that the property mentioned below be donated to the organization for the Our World exhibit, and

WHEREAS, the fire engine may be transferred to such a not-for-profit organization for no consideration, and

WHEREAS, the fire engine has a total estimated value of $5,000, and

WHEREAS, the City Council has determined the 1991 Ford fire engine is no longer needed to carry out department functions and is obsolete, and

WHEREAS, the City Council's transfer of the fire engine would provide the Minnesota Children's Museum visitors the opportunity to see the vehicle in one of the exhibits, and

WHEREAS, the donation of such property to the Minnesota Children's Museum would be a City function, serve a public purpose and benefit the community as a whole by enhancing the City's relationship with the Minnesota Children's Museum, now therefore be it

RESOLVED, that the City Council hereby authorizes the donation of the above described obsolete property to the Minnesota Children's Museum, and be it

FURTHER RESOLVED, that said organization shall take responsibility for removing the obsolete property from City premises in a manner and in accordance with the time line mutually agreed upon with the Saint Paul Fire Department and shall bear all costs associated with the removal and transportation of the designated obsolete property and agrees to accept the property as is; and be it
