Authorizing the Department of Emergency Management to apply for the annual Urban Area Security Initiative (UASI) grant program from the Department of Homeland Security to enhance preparedness and capabilities to prevent, prepare for, protect against, and respond to acts of terrorism.
Body
WHEREAS, the Department of Emergency Management would like to apply to the 2026 Urban Area Security Initiative (UASI) grant program from the Department of Homeland Security, which; the Department of Emergency Management is responsible for the maintenance and administration of a comprehensive emergency management security program within the City; and
WHEREAS, grant funds would allow the City to enhance City preparedness and capabilities to prevent, prepare for, protect against and respond to acts of terrorism; and
WHEREAS, the grant amount would be up to $1,318,452.96 with a prospective grant term 18 months, and the funding source for this grant is federal pass-through; and
WHEREAS, there is no match amount required of these funds by the City; and
WHEREAS, the Grants Division of the Office of Financial Services has reviewed and approved the Intent to Apply request; and
WHEREAS, the City certifies that it will comply with all applicable laws and regulations as stated in the grant agreement; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, that the Saint Paul City Council authorizes the Department of Emergency Management to apply for the 2026 Urban Area Security Initiative (UASI) grant program.
