Authorizing the City on behalf of the Police Department to accept and amend the 2024 Special Fund Budget for a 2024 Traffic Safety Vehicle Grant, issued by the Minnesota Department of Public Safety (DPS).

WHEREAS, the Minnesota Department of Public Safety (DPS) has awarded a 2024 Traffic Safety Vehicle Grant to the SPPD for $72,325; and
WHEREAS, the SPPD will use this grant to reduce injuries, deaths and property damage by working with eight neighboring law enforcement agencies to improve implementation of the Office of Traffic Safety Enforcement Grant approved in RES PH 23-324; and
WHEREAS, this grant, if awarded, includes a 20% matching funds requirement, which can be met by using funds from the SPPD’s existing fleet budget; and
WHEREAS, the Police Department received approval to apply for this grant on RES 24-176; and
WHEREAS, the 2024 financing and spending plans need to be amended and activity budget added for these funds; and
WHEREAS, the Mayor, pursuant to Section 10.07.1 of the Charter of the City of Saint Paul, does certify that there are available for appropriation total revenues in excess of those estimated in the budget, funds of $72,325 in the Special Fund; now
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of Saint Paul, upon recommendation of the Mayor that $72,325 is available for appropriation in the Police Department Special Fund, as heretofore adopted and amended by this Council, be hereby further amended in the particulars as specified in the attached financial analysis.
