Title

Authorizing the Department of Parks and Recreation to amend the financing and spending plan, in the amount of $250,000, and to enter into a grant agreement with the Minnesota Historical Society to accept Commemorative Statues, Memorials, and Historic Preservation (CSMHP) grant funds.

Body

 

WHEREAS, Res 25-1434 authorized the Department of Parks and Recreation (“Department”) to apply for funds from the Minnesota Historical Society’s Commemorative Statues, Memorials, and Historic Preservation (CSMHP) grant program to design and construct a mural and statue honoring Tou Ger Xiong at Phalen Regional Park; and

 

WHEREAS, the Department was awarded $250,000 for the project; and

 

WHEREAS, the Department wishes to enter into a grant agreement to accept said grant funds and establish a financing and spending plan for said grant; and

 

WHEREAS, the Mayor, pursuant to Section 10.07.1 of the Charter of the City of Saint Paul, does certify that there are available for appropriation funds of $250,000 in excess of those estimated in the 2026 capital improvement budget; now, therefore, be it

 

RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of Saint Paul, upon the recommendation of the Mayor, and the advice of the Long Range Capital Improvement Budget Committee, that $250,000 is available for appropriation in the 2026 capital improvement budget, and said budget as heretofore adopted by Council, is hereby further amended as outlined in the attached Financial Analysis; and, be it

 

FURTHER RESOLVED, that the appropriate City officials are authorized to enter into an agreement with the Minnesota Historical Society for the aforementioned funding.
