Title

Authorizing the Office of Financial Services to accept a $50,000 grant from the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency Local Climate Action Grant Program and authorizing a corresponding budget amendment.

Body

WHEREAS, the Saint Paul Climate Action and Resilience Plan states that to track our progress and keep up on the latest innovations, technologies, and best practices it will be essential for Saint Paul to update this Plan every five years; and

WHEREAS, the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA), has allocated $2.3 million in funding to be awarded through the Local Climate Action Grant program to develop or implement plans of action that enable local jurisdictions to adapt to extreme weather events and a changing climate and/or to reduce the local jurisdiction’s contributions to the causes of climate change; and

WHEREAS Resolution number 24-627 passed on 5/8/2024 authorized the Office of Financial Services to apply for a Local Climate Action Grant for Climate Action and Resilience Plan update support; and

WHEREAS the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency awarded the City of Saint Paul a Local Climate Action Grant of $50,000 with no required match beyond the City's existing project budget on July 24, 2024; and

WHEREAS, the Office of Financial Services wishes to accept said funding and amend the financing and spending budget in the amount of $50,000 to support an update of the Climate Action and Resilience Plan; and

 

 WHEREAS, the Mayor, pursuant to Section 10.07.1 of the Charter of the City of Saint Paul, does hereby certify that $50,000 in funds are available for appropriation in excess of those estimated in the 2024 budget; now, therefore, be it

 

RESOLVED, that the City of Saint Paul accepts this grant and approves the changes to the 2024 budget identified on the attached Financial Analysis.
