Title

Authorizing the Police Department to accept four (4) donations from the Saint Paul Police Foundation totaling $109,332.41 and amending the 2026 grant budget and adding activity budget.

Body

WHEREAS, the Saint Paul Police Foundation was formed in 2005 to support the Saint Paul Police Department (SPPD) by enabling public-private partnerships that support officer wellness, training and community outreach, ensuring that public safety remains a high priority; and

 

WHEREAS, the Saint Paul Police Foundation Grants Committee reviewed SPPD requests and has unanimously supported four (4) with donations totaling $109,332.41 which do not include any match requirement; and

 

WHEREAS, the funded initiatives include $25,000 for community outreach programs built to strengthen relationships and build trust within the community; $48,890 for the rebuild of the police officer sauna which is of vital importance for officer wellness; $30,668 for four segways enhancing mobility, visibility, and public safety in the downtown area and $4,774.41 to send two Public Information Officers (PIO) to the 2026 IACP PIO Section Midyear Conference; and

WHEREAS, the 2026 financing and spending plans need to be amended, and activity budget added for these funds; and

WHEREAS, the Mayor, pursuant to Section 10.07.1 of the Charter of the City of Saint Paul, does certify that there are available for appropriation funds of $109,332.41 in excess of those estimated in the 2026 budget; and 

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of Saint Paul, upon recommendation of the Mayor to accept the donation from the Saint Paul Police Foundation and approves these changes to the 2026 budget as amended on the attached financial analysis.
