Authorizing the Department of Parks and Recreation to apply for up to $200,000 in Equity Grant funds for the BIPOC Outdoors Saint Paul program, the Saint Paul Swims Safely program, the Winter Ski Equity Programs, the Wakáŋ Tipi Center Exhibit Concept Plan, and the Wakáŋ Tipi Center Design and Construction.

WHEREAS, the Metropolitan Council has published a Notice of Funding Availability for equity grants of up to $200,000 to fund programming and capital projects in the regional park system; and
WHEREAS, the grant is available to all regional park implementing agencies identified in state statute; and
WHEREAS, the City of Saint Paul is an eligible implementing agency; and
WHEREAS, the BIPOC Outdoors Saint Paul program, the Saint Paul Swims Safely program, the Winter Ski Equity Programs, the Wakáŋ Tipi Center Exhibit Concept Plan, and the Wakáŋ Tipi Center Design and Construction have been identified as eligible to receive funds; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation wishes to submit all said programs for consideration; and
WHEREAS, the City Council finds that there is a public purpose in providing access to nature-based recreation through programming for residents in the regional park system; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, that Saint Paul City Council authorizes the appropriate City officials to apply for the competitive equity grants and, if awarded, enter into an agreement with the Metropolitan Council for the aforementioned funding, which includes an indemnification clause.
