Approval to accept funds for the Department of Parks and Recreation, as noted below, in the total amount of $148,787, and to establish a financing and spending plan in said amount for the funds to reconstruct the play area at Wacouta Commons Park.

Body

WHEREAS, the City of Saint Paul (“City”) performs significant services for residents of the Metropolitan area and all Minnesota residents through its ownership and operation of its parks, trails, and amenities; and

WHEREAS, the City supports and will continue to support the cooperative efforts of supporters of the City of Saint Paul; and

WHEREAS, the City of Saint Paul’s Department of Parks and Recreation has received a gift totaling $148,787 from the following entities to reconstruct the play area at Wacouta Commons Park:

David Washburn Donor Advised Fund - Friends of Wacouta Commons $10,000
Hardenbergh Foundation - SPPC $45,000
Individuals - SPPC $11,787
Neighborhood STAR - Friends of Wacouta Commons $25,000
Parkland Dedication Funds (from devel at 460 Wacouta St) $57,000; and

WHEREAS, said funding will be utilized to provide for much needed capital improvements that will enhance opportunities for play in Wacouta Commons Park; and

WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation will provide construction management and implementation services for the project; and

WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation wishes to accept said funds and establish a financing and spending plan for the Wacouta Commons Park project; and

WHEREAS, the Mayor, pursuant to Section 10.07.1 of the Charter of the City of Saint Paul, does certify that there are available for appropriation, funds of $148,787 in excess of those estimated in the 2022 Capital Improvement Budget; now, therefore, be it
