Approving the Mayor’s appointment of Samuel Xiong, Phoenix Vang, and Lay Wah to three-year terms on Mayor’s Advisory Committee for People with Disabilities.

WHEREAS, on May 29, 1975, in CF 265523, the City created a Mayor’s Advisory Committee ("Committee") made up of thirteen (13) members, seven (7) of which are to be persons with disabilities; and
WHEREAS, on March 2, 1976, in CF 266861, the City determined the Committee would be a permanent Committee, which later came to be known as the Mayor’s Advisory Committee on People with Disabilities; and
WHEREAS, Advising and making recommendations to the Mayor and City Council regarding problems, issues, and opportunities facing people with disabilities. Specifically focusing on issues related to employment, public education, and accessibility; and
WHEREAS, Samuel Xiong, Phoenix Vang, and Lay Wah are participants in the Youth on Boards Program in Saint Paul Parks and Recreation and have been recommended by staff for appointment; and
WHEREAS, Mayor Kaohly Her wishes to appoint Samuel Xiong, Phoenix Vang, and Lay Wah to the Mayor’s Advisory Committee for People with Disabilities to a three-year term ending on March 31, 2029; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, that the Saint Paul City Council approves the appointment of Samuel Xiong, Phoenix Vang, and Lay Wah to three-year terms as members of the Mayor’s Advisory Committee for People with Disabilities for a term ending on March 31, 2029.
