Title

Proclaiming September 25, 2026, as Dolly Parton Day in the City of Saint Paul.

Body

WHEREAS, Dolly Parton is a beloved singer, songwriter, performer, philanthropist, and cultural icon whose music, generosity, and joyful spirit have inspired generations; and

WHEREAS, throughout her life and career, Dolly Parton has demonstrated the power of investing in others, reminding us that strong communities are built when we support one another and lead with generosity and love; and

WHEREAS, these same values are reflected in the kind of community we strive to build in Saint Paul, a city built and sustained by working people, where our communities are strongest when the people who care for our families, teach our children, serve our neighbors, and keep our city moving have the opportunity to thrive; and

WHEREAS, Dolly Parton has given voice to these values throughout her extraordinary career, including through her enduring anthem “9 to 5,” which celebrates the dignity, strength, and resilience of working people; and

WHEREAS, as working people and families continue to face rising costs and economic uncertainty, we are reminded of the importance of solidarity and our shared responsibility to build a community where everyone has the opportunity to build a good life;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Saint Paul City Council proclaims September 25, 2026 - nine two five - as Dolly Parton Day in the City of Saint Paul, to be celebrated in her spirit with a little more joy, a little more generosity, a little more love for our neighbors, and a commitment to ensuring that working people can build a life and thrive in our community.
