Accepting the gift of travel expenses from The Aspen Institute for Mayor Coleman, along with city staff Erin Dady and Scott Cordes, to attend the CityLab Conference in New York City.

WHEREAS, Mayor Coleman has been invited to attend a gathering of300+ of the world's top mayors, city planners, architects, academics, economists, artists, and other civic leaders; and
WHEREAS, the conference, called CityLab: Urban Solutions to Global Challenges, will take place in New York City on October 6,7, and 8, 2013 and is sponsored by The Atlantic, The Aspen Institute, and Bloomberg Charities, to spread successful practices of global cities in topic areas including technology, infrastructure, public health, public safety, government innovation, and the environment; and
WHEREAS, Mayor Coleman is invited to nominate two additional senior staff members to attend with him; and
WHEREAS, the attendance of these individuals at the event will benefit the City by allowing them to discuss strategies for Saint Paul to meet global challenges; and
WHEREAS, the Aspen Institute has offered to pay the airfare and hotel for the three attendees at a cost of $2,853.20; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, that the City Council of the City of Saint Paul hereby accepts the donation of airfare and hotel expenses for Mayor Coleman, Erin Dady and Scott Cordes to attend CityLab: Urban Solutions to Global Challenges and thanks the Aspen Institute for its generous gift.
