Authorizing Public Works to request $893,166 in SCORE grant and Incentive funds from Ramsey County to support the curbside recycling program and setting the 2022 City Recycling Service Fees. (Laid over from November 3.)
Body
WHEREAS, the request of the SCORE grant funds from Ramsey County and setting the recycling service fees for 2022 will allow the City to continue the collection and processing of recyclables program under the current contract with Eureka Recycling through 2022; and
WHEREAS, Ramsey County has Incentive grant funds beyond the base SCORE funds to supported targeted waste reduction goals relating to responsible bulky items management, increased business recycling, and food waste reduction and/or diversion efforts; and
WHEREAS, the request of $125,400 in SCORE Incentive grant funds from Ramsey County will allow the City to continue activities related to food waste reduction, increase reuse opportunities and support efforts to inform and educate residents and businesses related to the To-Go Packaging ordinance: and,
WHEREAS, the request of the SCORE Incentive grant funds from Ramsey County will further the department’s goals to divert 50% of residential waste generated from the garbage; and
WHEREAS, in order to continue service in 2022 for weekly curbside collection of recyclables, the City Recycling Service Fee in 2022 shall be set at $60.24 per unit in residential buildings with one to three units (SUD) including condominiums, and $38.16 per unit in residential buildings with four or more units (MUD), for support of the Citywide curbside and multi-family / City buildings recycling collection programs; and
WHEREAS, this represents no increase for SUD and MUD properties respectively from the 2021 City Recycling Fee rates; now
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the proper City officials are hereby authorized and directed to request, and if approved accept, SCORE grant funds from Ramsey County in the amount of $893,166 in 2022 for...
