TITLE
Accepting the gift of lodging and conference registration expenses from People for the American Way’s Big Ideas Summit for Ward 6 Legislative Aide Chris Xiong to attend the 2022 Big Ideas Summit Conference.
BODY
WHEREAS, Young Elected Official (YEO) Network, a nonpartisan program of the People for the American Way Foundation, is the first and only national initiative to provide a network of support to the newest generation of progressive leaders at every level of elected office; and
WHEREAS, The Network was founded in 2005 with the mission to unite and support elected leaders ages 35 and under who share a passion for building communities that reflects values of freedom, fairness, and opportunities for all; and
WHEREAS, YEO Network provides the resources young elected officials need to effectively impact policy, foster their own development and professional growth, and elevate their leadership in the broader progressive movement; and
WHEREAS, the Saint Paul City Council finds that acceptance of this gift will serve a governmental purpose by supporting and developing leadership skills in younger elected officials and their staff; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, that the City Council accepts the gift of lodging, and conference registration expenses up to $750.00 for Ward 6 Legislative Aide Chris Xiong to attend the Big Ideas Summit Conference, and thanks People for the American Way for its generous gift.
