Authorizing application for a $700 Workplace Wellness grant from the Saint Paul Chamber of Commerce to offset the cost of a Mother’s/Personal Room; authorizing execution of a grant agreement; and amending the financing and spending plans in the Office of Financial Services.

Body
WHEREAS, the Office of Financial Services (OFS) promotes citywide values and strives to support social cohesion, workplace satisfaction, and mental and physical well-being of employees; and

WHEREAS, the existing Mother’s Room in OFS is the only Mother’s/Personal Room in City Hall/Courthouse Building; and

WHEREAS, the current furnishings are not adequate to fully support nursing mothers who require privacy, discreet breast milk storage, pump storage, and a discreet place to wash personal items as well as comfortable furniture; and

WHEREAS, OFS would like the remodel of the Mother’s/Personal Room to serve as a template for other departments to undertake similar efforts that reflect how the City values working mothers, workplace morale, productivity and teamwork while working within a modest budget; and

WHEREAS, nursing mothers and people in need of a discreet personal space for a brief time during the work day throughout City Hall would have access to this room; and

WHEREAS, OFS seeks a Workplace Wellness grant from the Saint Paul Chamber of Commerce to offset some of the costs associated with this initiative (the “Grant”); and

WHEREAS, the total grant award is $700; and

WHEREAS, upon acceptance and receipt of the Grant, financing and spending plans need be established; and

WHEREAS, upon acceptance and receipt of the Grant, the Mayor pursuant to Section 10.07.1 of the Charter of the City of Saint Paul, does certify that there are available for appropriations funds of $700 in excess of those estimated in the 2020 budget; now, therefore, be it
