Pertaining to a grant application to the Minnesota Historical Society for the Minnesota Historical and Cultural Heritage Grants (MHCHG) program to fund repairs to the historic Highland Park Water Tower.

WHEREAS, the Board of Water Commissioners of the City of Saint Paul has need to perform repairs on its historic Highland Park Water Tower; and
WHEREAS, MacDonald and Mark Architects, Ltd., the Board’s consultant, performed a condition assessment and has determined the estimated cost to perform said repairs is approximately $324,000; and
WHEREAS, said condition assessment was funded by the MHCHG program of the Minnesota Historical Society; and
WHEREAS, staff has been advised to apply for $250,000 in grant funds to be used for the needed repairs from the MHCHG program of the Minnesota Historical Society, with a possibility of full funding of the total estimated costs of $324,000 being awarded; and
WHEREAS, the Board has the legal authority to apply for the grant, and the financial, technical, and managerial capacity to comply with the grant agreement; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, that the Board does hereby direct staff to make application for grant funding to the MHCHG program of the Minnesota Historical Society, and hereby authorizes its General Manager of Saint Paul Regional Water Services to execute any and all forms as may be required in said application.
