TITLE
Authorizing the Department of Safety and Inspections (DSI), through its Homeless Assistance Response Team (HART), to accept the donation of a 2014 Dodge Caravan to better assist the HART team in serving our residents experiencing homelessness.
BODY
WHEREAS, the Saint Paul Downtown Alliance is a nonprofit organization that represents downtown businesses, nonprofits, government entities, residents, and entrepreneurs; and
WHEREAS, the Saint Paul Downtown Alliance, through its president, Joe Spencer, reached out to DSI with interest in donating a 2014 Dodge Caravan with 140,000 miles; and
WHEREAS, the value of the 2014 Dodge Caravan is estimated at $7,088; and
WHEREAS, the HART team will use the 2014 Dodge Caravan to further their work with the unsheltered community by assisting with voluntary relocation in advance of or during encampment closures and reclosures as well as connecting residents with area services; and
WHEREAS, these efforts assist unsheltered residents navigating a path out of homelessness; and
WHEREAS, DSI wishes to accept the donation of the 2014 Dodge Caravan from the Downtown Alliance and
WHEREAS, the Saint Paul City Council finds that there is a public purpose in improving the person-centered interventions offered by DSI-HART and providing this service; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Saint Paul authorizes DSI, through its HART team, to accept a 2014 Dodge Caravan ($7,088 Value) from the Downtown Alliance and thanks them for their generous donation.
