Accepting the Saint Paul and Ramsey County Domestic Abuse Intervention Project amendment award.

WHEREAS, the Saint Paul and Ramsey County Domestic Abuse Intervention Project (SPIP) has been awarded  the Improving Criminal Justice Response program (Arrest Program) grant from the U.S. Department of Justice, Office on Violence Against Women; and

 

WHEREAS, this grant provides funds for the Blueprint Accessibility, Zero-Bias, Enhancement Project (BLAZE) defining a coordinated community response to domestic violence across multiple systems; and

 

WHEREAS, the Saint Paul Police Department is one of many partners contributing to the project and SPIP is sub-granting funds for its contribution as described in the attached agreement; and

 

WHEREAS, the City of Saint Paul Police Department requests authorization to enter into the attached sub-agreement; and

 

WHEREAS, the 2020 financing and spending plan needs to be amended for these funds to more accurately record expenditures; and

 

WHEREAS, the Mayor pursuant to Section 10.07.1 of the Charter of the City of Saint Paul, does certify that there are available for appropriation funds of $294,437 in excess of those estimated in the 2020 budget and recommends the changes as attached; and

 

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, the city council accepts this grant, approves the changes to the 2020 budget and authorizes the City of Saint Paul to enter into and Assistant Chief Robert Thomasser to implement the sub-agreement with SPIP in a form and content as substantially set forth.
