Authorizing the Como Park Zoo and Conservatory to accept funding for two representatives to attend the annual Empathy Summit for the Advancing Conservation through Empathy for Wildlife Network, to be held in Seattle, Washington on February 11 and 12 of 2025.

WHEREAS, Como Park Zoo and Conservatory is a Network Partner Organization and is at the forefront of efforts to foster empathy in zoos and other informal learning environments; and
WHEREAS, the Woodland Park Zoo in Seattle, Washington will host the annual Empathy Summit on February 11 and 12 of 2025; and
WHEREAS, the Woodland Park Zoo, with support from a grant, has offered to pay lodging, meals, and transportation costs for two Como Park Zoo & Conservatory employees to attend the summit; and
WHEREAS, attendance at the summit will allow Como Park Zoo and Conservatory to Network to convene with other network partners in-person to learn from each other and initiate projects for future directions of our empathy work; now therefore, be it
RESOLVED, that the Saint Paul City Council accepts the gift of travel expenses for two Como Park Zoo and Conservatory employees to attend the summit in Seattle, Washington and thanks Woodland Park Zoo for the generous gift.
