Authorizing the Department of Safety Inspections to enter into a Joint Powers Agreement with the State of Minnesota’s Fire Marshal Division regarding the enforcement of the Minnesota Fire Code to hotel inspections.

WHEREAS, The City of Saint Paul (“City”) and State of Minnesota’s Fire Marshal Division (“State”), collectively the “Parties” wish to enter into a Joint Powers Agreement (“Agreement”) to delegate the enforcement of the Minnesota Fire Code to hotel inspections from the State to the City; and
WHEREAS, Minnesota Statutes 299F.46 expressly permits the State to enter into agreements with cities to delegate the State’s duty to inspect hotels at least once every three years; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the City of Saint Paul, Department of Safety Inspections is authorized to enter into the attached Joint Powers Agreement with the State of Minnesota, Fire Marshal Division, to enforce the Minnesota Fire Code to hotels within the City of Saint Paul.
