Authorizing the City through the Parks and Recreation Department to accept a $100,000 donation from the Minnesota Twins Community Fund.
Body
WHEREAS, the Saint Paul Parks & Recreation Department has been offered a donation of $100,000 to support youth baseball and softball in Saint Paul; and
WHEREAS, the donation is not a grant and did not require the City to submit any form of grant application; and
WHEREAS, the Saint Paul Parks & Recreation Department is requesting permission to accept $100,000 in funds from Minnesota Twins Community Fund to support youth baseball & softball; and
WHEREAS, the funds will provide equipment and league fees for those interested in playing baseball & softball; and
WHEREAS there is no required match of these funds by the City; and
WHEREAS the Council of the City of Saint Paul finds that the expenditure of these funds to provide baseball & softball free for all those in the baseball & softball programs 8U and up, also to provide the proper equipment to play, has a public purpose; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Saint Paul authorizes the Saint Paul Parks and Recreation Department to accept $100,000 from Minnesota Twins Community Fund and thanks them for the financial support for youth baseball and softball in Saint Paul.
