Recognizing National Night Out 2018.

Whereas, the National Association of Town Watch (NATW) sponsors a national community-building campaign on the first Tuesday in August entitled “National Night Out;” and
Whereas, National Night Out encourages neighbors in Saint Paul to join over 38 million neighbors across approximately 16 thousand communities from all 50 states to come together and celebrate our community; and
Whereas, Saint Paul is regularly ranked as one of the top communities participating in National Night Out and in 2017, we were ranked among the top three communities of comparable size; and
Whereas, National Night Out is an annual community-building campaign that promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to build relationships and make our neighborhoods safer, more caring places to live; and
Whereas, we all benefit when neighbors in Saint Paul come together with police and work together to build a safer community where we look out for each other;
Now, therefore, be it resolved that the City Council of Saint Paul does hereby call upon neighbors in Saint Paul to join us and the National Association of Town Watch in support of National Night Out on Tuesday, August 7, 2018; and
Be it further resolved that the Saint Paul City Council proclaims Tuesday, August 7, 2018 as “National Night Out” in Saint Paul.
