Accepting the gift of installation of up-lighting of the Josias R. King Civil War Monument in Summit Park, valued at $20,000.
Body
WHEREAS, the City owns land, known as Summit Park, on which the Josias R. King Monument is located; and
WHEREAS, 2013 is the 150th anniversary of the US Civil War Battle of Gettysburg, and the Edward Murphy Family, and the Richard Donovan Family, both long time Saint Paul residents, wish to honor their ancestors, Jeremiah Donovan, an Irish immigrant and private in Co. I, and Joseph Tenner, a Swiss immigrant, and private in Co. B, 1st Minnesota Volunteer Infantry Regiment from 1861-1864, and both wounded at Gettysburg; and
WHEREAS, the Murphy's and Donovan's have offered to pay for the installation of lighting at the monument, and any needed repairs to the lighting for a period of 5 years; and
WHEREAS, the Capital Area Architectural Planning Board (CAAPB) has been informed of the plans and has no objections to the installation of lighting; now, therefore be it
RESOLVED, that the City of Saint Paul hereby accepts the gift of installation of lighting at the Josias R. King Monument in Summit Park and thanks the Edward Murphy and Richard Donovan Families for their generous gift.
