Authorizing the Police Department to accept a grant in the amount of $499,539 from the State of Minnesota, Commissioner of Commerce for the Auto Theft Grant, and amend the 2017 budget for this award.
Body
WHEREAS, the City of Saint Paul, Police Department has been awarded the Auto Theft Prevention Grant by the State of Minnesota, Department of Commerce, which includes an indemnification clause; and
WHEREAS, this grant provides funds to support efforts to combat auto theft through investigations and specialized details designed to curb auto thefts focused in Saint Paul and secondarily in collaboration with other agencies on auto theft prevention; and
WHEREAS, the 2017 financing and spending plan needs to be amended and activity budget added for this grant award; and
WHEREAS, the Mayor pursuant to Section 10.07.1 of the Charter of the City of Saint Paul does certify that there are available for appropriation funds of $142,033 in excess of those estimated in the 2017 budget; and
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the city council accepts this grant and authorizes the City of Saint Paul to enter into, and Assistant Chief Kathleen Wuorinen to implement the attached agreement with the State of Minnesota which includes an indemnification clause.
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the city council approves these changes to the 2017 budget.
