Title
Amending the financing and spending plans in the Fire Department in the amount of $1,924,798 to accept the 2013 Assistance to Firefighters Grant to purchase station alerting systems.
Body
WHEREAS, the Saint Paul Fire Department has applied for and received a grant of $2,138,664 from the Federal Emergency Management Agency's Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program which has a federal share of $1,924,798 and a 10% matching funds contribution of $213,866 to purchase a new station alerting system and provide program management costs for the project, and
WHEREAS, this is a regional grant that the Fire Department will manage and it involves nine other fire departments and the Ramsey County Dispatch Center, and
WHEREAS, federal law requires a 10% matching fund contribution and the Saint Paul Fire Department's match of $82,165 will be paid as follows $21,769 from 40022950-64505-C139T04393005-64505 and $60,396 from 40022950-64505-C149T04493005-64505, and
WHEREAS, the remaining 10% matching fund contribution of $131,701 will be provided by the other departments involved with this grant, and
WHEREAS, the financing and spending plans have not been established for the grant received, and
WHEREAS, the Mayor recommends the following addition be made to the 2014 budget:

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council accepts this grant and approves the changes to the 2014 budget.
