Amending the Capital Improvement Budget in the Department of Parks and Recreation by adding $150,000.00 to the Financing and Spending Plans for a Solar Energy Legacy Grant received for the Como Pool project.

Body
WHEREAS, the State of Minnesota has created the Solar Energy Legacy Grant program to support solar energy projects in parks and on trails of regional or statewide significance; and

WHEREAS, the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources is soliciting projects to be funded through this program; and

WHEREAS, the grants are awarded to local units of government to purchase, install and interpret solar energy projects within parks and on trails of regional significance; and

WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation has reviewed the qualifying and ranking criteria to apply for these grant funds and based on these criteria, submitted a grant application for review, ranking and recommendation for Solar Grant funding of a photovoltaic heating system to heat the domestic water service for the Como Pool Bathhouse and Concession Buildings at an estimated cost of $200,000.00; and

WHEREAS, the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources awarded $150,000.00 to the Department of Parks and Recreation; and

WHEREAS, the Mayor, pursuant to Section 10.07.1 of the Charter of the City of Saint Paul, does certify that there are available for appropriation, funds of $150,000 in excess of those estimated in the 2010 Capital Improvement Budget; and

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of Saint Paul, upon recommendation of the Mayor and the positive advice of the Long Range Capital Improvement Budget Committee, that $150,000 is available for appropriation in the 2010 Capital Improvement Budget, and said 2010 budget, as heretofore adopted by the Council, is here by further amended as follows; and
