Approving the acceptance of the gift of $300 for hotel expenses from Voices for National Service for Mayor Coleman to attend the Friends of National Service Awards on February 10, 2015 in Washington, DC.

WHEREAS, Voices for National Service is a coalition of  national service programs, state service commissions, and individuals committed to expanding opportunities for Americans of all ages to serve and volunteer  and has chosen Mayor Coleman to receive the Local Leadership Award; and
 
WHEREAS,  Mayor Coleman has been invited to attend the Friends of National Service Awards on February 10,  2015 in Washington, DC.; and
WHEREAS,  the Friends of National Service Awards Ceremony is an opportunity for Voices for National Service to recognize leaders from the public, private, and nonprofit sectors who have contributed to building a culture of citizenship, service and responsibility in America, and more than 400 guests  are expected to attend, including service practitioners, members of Congress, congressional staff, agency and administration staff, state service commission directors, community partners, AmeriCorps alumni, and corporate sponsors; and
WHEREAS,   the organization has offered to pay the costs of a hotel room, up to the amount of $300 for Mayor Coleman; and
WHEREAS,  attendance at the event to accept the award will benefit the City by recognizing the work the Mayor has done and highlighting Saint Paul's work in encouraging citizenship and service; now, therefore be it
RESOLVED,  that the City Council accepts the gift of hotel cost up to $300, appropriates it to the intended use, and thanks Voices for National Service for its generous gift.
