Authorizing the Department of Parks and Recreation to accept a donation of $5,000 from the Prioleau family toward the purchase of a new scoreboard to enhance the gym and offer opportunities to participants at the Martin Luther King Recreation Center.

WHEREAS, Steve Prioleau coached and supported Martin Luther King Recreation Center and SUGAA youth athletics for over 25 years until his untimely passing in 2023. Through fundraising efforts, the Prioleau family raised funds to support the purchase of a new scoreboard in his honor for the gym at Martin Luther King Recreation Center; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation is requesting permission to accept said donation of $5,000 from the Prioleau family toward the purchase of a new scoreboard at the Martin Luther King Recreation Center; and
WHEREAS, the donation, if accepted, will provide a better-quality experience for participants at Martin Luther King Recreation Center; and
WHEREAS, there is no required match of these funds by the City; and
WHEREAS, the Saint Paul City Council finds that the donation of these items to support a major enhancement to the facility and program offerings at Martin Luther King Recreation Center has a public purpose; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Saint Paul authorizes the Parks and Recreation
Department to accept said donation of $5,000 from the Prioleau family and thanks them for their generous donation.
