Approving the Mayor's appointment of ThaoMee Xiong to serve on the Metro Cities (a/k/a the Association of Metropolitan Municipalities) Board of Directors.
Body
WHEREAS, the Metro Cities' (created in 1974 as the Association of Metropolitan Municipalities) primary objective is to be an effective voice for metropolitan cities at the Legislature and Metropolitan Council, so as to influence state legislation affecting metro area cities, and regional policies that accommodate the needs of metro area cities; and
WHEREAS, the City of Saint Paul is a member of Metro Cities and has the ability to appoint two members to its Board of Directors; and
WHEREAS, one of the seats for the City of Saint Paul is currently vacant; now therefore be it
RESOLVED, that the Saint Paul City Council consents to and approves the appointment made by the Mayor, of ThaoMee Xiong, Director of Intergovernmental Relations for Mayor Carter, to serve on the Metro Cities Policy Committee.
