Title

Authorizing the City on behalf of the Department of Parks and Recreation, to accept grant funds in the amount of $3,500 from the National Recreation and Park Association (“NRPA”), and authorizing the proper City Officials to enter into a grant agreement (which includes indemnification language).

Body

 

WHEREAS, by RES #24-774, the Department of Parks and Recreation applied for and has received a National Recreation and Park Association (“NRPA”) Million Coaches Challenge grant in the amount of $3,500 to champion positive youth development; and

 

WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation is requesting permission to accept said $3,500 in grant funds from the National Recreation and Parks Association Million Coaches Challenge grant; and

 

WHEREAS, the grant funds will provide youth coaches training from the Center for Healing and Justice through Sport to ensure coaches are prepared to help their players thrive, provide meals, and transportation for coaches to attend trainings; and

 

WHEREAS, the NRPA requires the City to enter into a grant agreement that details the conditions of receiving said funds, including language requiring the City to indemnify the NRPA; and

 

WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation wishes to accept said funding in the amount of $3,500; and

 

WHEREAS, the Council of the City of Saint Paul finds that the expenditure of these funds to provide youth coach trainings and provide meals and transportation serves a public purpose; now, therefore, be it

 

RESOLVED, the Council of the City of Saint Paul authorizes the Department of Parks and Recreation to accept the Million Coaches Challenge grant from the NRPA; and, be it

 

FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Department of Parks and Recreation is authorized to execute the necessary grant agreement with the NRPA, which includes an indemnification clause, to accept and utilize said funds.
