Authorizing the Department of Parks and Recreation to apply for up to $25,000 from the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources (MN DNR) to support the Outdoor Adventures Saint Paul project.
Body
WHEREAS, the MN DNR offers the No Child Left Inside grant; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation is requesting permission to apply for up to $25,000 in grant funds from the MN DNR to support the Saint Paul Youth Adventure Club project; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation will provide outdoor programming for Saint Paul youth that focuses on building skills and nurturing a love for being outside; and
WHEREAS, grant funds would allow the Department of Parks and Recreation to provide quality, nature-based opportunities and excursions to Saint Paul youth; and
WHEREAS, there is an unspecified amount match required of these funds by the City and other supporting agencies of the Saint Paul Youth Adventure Club project; and
WHEREAS, matching funds would primarily be in-kind staffing support with minimal supply funds being drawn from EMP funds; and
RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Saint Paul authorizes the Department Parks and Recreation to apply for said grant with the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources.
