Accepting the gift of travel and lodging expenses from Rooted Philanthropic for Jimmy Loyd to attend the Entrepreneurs and Small Business Seminar convening in Atlanta, Georgia from October 16-18, 2024.

WHEREAS, Jimmy Loyd, Economic Development Director of the Department of Planning and Economic Development has been invited by Rooted Philanthropic to attend the Entrepreneurs and Small Business Seminar, and to visit the Russel Innovation Center for Entrepreneurs, the Georgia Tech Enterprise Innovations Institute, the ENGAGE Accelerator, and the National Center for Civil & Human Rights, and to learn from other professionals held in in Atlanta, Georgia from October 16-18, 2024; and
WHEREAS, attending the Entrepreneurs and Small Business Seminar will be an opportunity for the City of Saint Paul to hear from national leaders on a variety of relevant topics such as innovative business models, understanding challenges and opportunities and learning how another region is addressing them through innovative practices, and learning about the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Hub model, and other potential systemic intervention that more effectively and efficiently supports entrepreneurs and small businesses to be successful; and
WHEREAS, the convening will be attended by administrators and partners that have expertise and experience in key policy/programs that the Department of Planning and Economic Development has interest in for the betterment of Saint Paul; and
WHEREAS, Rooted Philanthropic has offered to cover all expenses related to transportation, hotel reservation, and food expenses for Director Jimmy Loyd, valued at $2,997.00; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Saint Paul finds that attendance at the Entrepreneurs and Small Business Seminar benefits the City by providing an opportunity for staff to learn from related best practices across the nation; now therefore, be it
