Accepting a stipend from the Gateway Corridor Commission for city staff to attend a Gateway Gold Line peer region visit in Eugene, Oregon.

WHEREAS, the Gateway Corridor Commission is hosting a peer region visit in Eugene, Oregon on May 31 - June 2, 2017; and

WHEREAS, Reuben Collins and Mike Klobucar have been invited to represent the City of Saint Paul; and

WHEREAS, this conference is attended by officials, committee members, and agency staff along the Gateway Gold Line Transit Corridor to view and share lessons learned from staff of similar bus rapid transit projects in the Eugene area; and

WHEREAS, Gateway Corridor Commission has offered a $750 stipend per person to pay expenses incurred while attending this tour, up to a total of $1,500; and

WHEREAS, Reuben Collins and Mike Klobucar’s attendance at this conference will serve a public purpose in allowing them to meet with other people in their field to discuss lessons learned during planning, construction, and operation of a similar bus rapid transit line; and transit oriented development that is occurring along this line; so

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Saint Paul City Council on behalf of the citizens of Saint Paul, accepts the gift of a $750 stipend per person up to $1,500 total for lodging and travel for the peer region visit and appropriates it to the intended use for Reuben Collins and Mike Klobucar to attend this tour, and thanks the Gateway Corridor Commission for their generous gift.
