Authorizing the Police Department to enter into a site lease agreement which includes an indemnification clause with the Public Housing Agency.
Body
WHEREAS, the City of Saint Paul Police Department (SPPD) wishes to enter into a site lease agreement for installation of security cameras on the roof of the Cleveland Hi-Rise site at 899 S. Cleveland Avenue, owned by the Public Housing Agency (PHA); and
WHEREAS, the lease term is for a period of approximately five years; and
WHEREAS, the PHA has requested indemnification in the event of any damages or injuries caused by the use of the site by the SPPD; and
WHEREAS, the City Council finds that the installation of the cameras will have a legitimate public purpose in assisting the SPPD in efforts to keep the public safe, and in monitoring and preventing criminal activity in the area; and
WHEREAS, the expenditure of public money, which includes the promise of defense and indemnification, will permit the SPPD to install the cameras; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, that the City Council authorizes the appropriate city officials to execute the attached five year lease agreement with the Public Housing Agency of the City of Saint Paul, which contains an indemnification clause.
