Authorizing the Department of Public Works to expend an amount not to exceed $25,000 for the purpose of providing refreshments, marketing materials, recognition items, and other incentives for various activities, programs, volunteers, and events throughout 2024.
Body
WHEREAS, the Department of Public Works is involved in various forms of community engagement, outreach, marketing, and volunteer recognition strategies; and
WHEREAS, in an effort to engage and inform residents about Public Works events, projects, and programs such as recycling and garbage, snow operations, and various construction activities; and
WHEREAS, over the last decade, experience with such engagement and outreach has demonstrated a need to provide different types of promotional materials, items, and other take-aways to encourage participation; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Public Works wishes to provide food and refreshments to attendees using existing budgeted funds during events, meetings, and other Department sponsored programs and activities to encourage attendance; and
WHEREAS, recognition of volunteers, such as alley captains, and their accomplishments is essential each year to assist with volunteer support, recruitment, and retention; and
RESOLVED, that the Department of Public Works is hereby authorized to expend an amount not to exceed $25,000 for the purpose of purchasing food items, refreshments, marketing materials, and other incentives for various Department activities, programs, events and volunteers needing support and/or recognition throughout 2024.
