Authorizing the Police Department to expense costs associated with assessors for the Commander and Sergeant exams.

Body

WHEREAS, the Saint Paul Police Department is seeking actual cost of expenses which will include luggage fees, mileage, meals, and ground transportation service for assessors who will assist in evaluating our candidates for the Commander and Sergeant positions; and

 

WHEREAS, the Commander exam will be held in February 2026, and the Sergeant exam will be held in 2026, at a yet to be determined date; and

 

WHEREAS, there will be up to ten (10) assessors for each exam with an estimated cost for expenditures of $30,000; and

 

WHEREAS, the public purpose for the expense is to be able to enhance the qualified selection of assessors to evaluate the Sergeant candidates choosing to take the Commander exam and Police Officer candidates choosing to take the Sergeant exam; and

 

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the council approves the public purpose for the Police Department assessor expenses.
