Authorizing the Fire Department to apply for the 2025 Fire Prevention and Safety Grant in the amount of $600,000 from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to purchase supplies for the community risk reduction program Project Safe Haven, equipment for the fire investigation unit, public education support, CPR training equipment, and media equipment.

WHEREAS, the Fire Department would like to apply for the 2025 Fire Prevention and Safety Grant to purchase supplies for Project Safe Haven, equipment for the fire investigation unit, public education support, CPR training equipment, and media equipment; and
WHEREAS, the grant application materials have been reviewed for any new federal grant requirements; and
WHEREAS, the grant amount would be $600,000 of which the federal government would provide $571,428.57; and
WHEREAS, the grant requires a 5% match of $28,571.43 which would be paid from the fire department's budget over the two years of the grant period of performance; and
WHEREAS, the Grants Division of the Office of Financial Services has reviewed and approved the Intent to Apply request; and
WHEREAS, the City certifies that it will comply with all applicable laws and regulations as stated in the grant agreement; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, that the City Council authorizes the Fire Department to apply for the 2025 Fire Prevention and Safety Grant.
