Accepting the gift of airfare, lodging, meals, and other travel expenses from the Omaha Fire Department for Deputy Chief Brittney Baker to participate as an assessor for their captain promotion process.
Body
WHEREAS, from time to time local fire departments use non-department fire fighters to assess department staff as part of their internal promotion process; and
WHEREAS, from time to time the Saint Paul Fire Department (SPFD) authorizes its employees to assist other cities with their promotion assessments to build relationships with and learn from other fire departments; and
WHEREAS, the Omaha Fire Department is conducting promotion assessments for their captains July 27-31, 2026, in Omaha, Nebraska, and has requested that SPFD send one employee to help conduct the assessments; and
WHEREAS, the Omaha Fire Department has agreed to pay for all travel expenses, including but not limited to, airfare, lodging and meals, for the SPFD employee to participate in the assessment; and
WHEREAS, SPFD Deputy Chief Brittney Baker will be attending and participating in the assessment on behalf of SPFD; and
WHEREAS, the City Council finds SPFD's participation in the assessment is beneficial to the City because it helps SPFD foster relationships with other fire departments and share best practices; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, that the City Council accepts the gift of the cost of the travel expenses from the Omaha Fire Department.
