Approving the Mayor’s appointment of Councilmember Nelsie Yang to the Saint Paul Port Authority Board of Commissioners for a term beginning on December 1, 2025.

Body

WHEREAS, Minnesota State Statute469.050 (Subdivision 1) states that the Saint Paul Port Authority Board of Commissioners (“Board”) consists of seven (7) commissioners, two of whom must be members of the Saint Paul City Council, appointed by the Mayor with the consent of the Council; and

 

WHEREAS, Councilmember Nelsie Yang notified the Board that she would be on leave beginning June 16, 2025, intending to return at the end of November; and

 

WHEREAS Council President Rebecca Noecker expressed an interest in serving as a commissioner on the Board while Councilmember Yang is on leave and is currently a Saint Paul City Council member representing the Second Ward; and

 

WHEREAS, by City Council Resolution 25-927, the City Council approved Mayor Carter’s appointment of Council President Rebecca Noecker to the Board during the time that Councilmember Yang is on leave; and

 

WHEREAS, Councilmember Nelsie Yang has notified the Board that she will be returning from leave on December 1, 2025, and desires to be reappointed to the Board and replace Council President Rebecca Noecker on the Board; and

 

WHEREAS, Mayor Carter wishes to appoint Councilmember Nelsie Yang to the Board in the position currently held by Council President Rebecca Noecker; now, therefore be it

 

RESOLVED, that the Saint Paul City Council consents to the appointment of Councilmember Nelsie Yang as a commissioner on the Saint Paul Port Authority Board to replace Council President Rebecca Noecker, for a term ending December 31, 2027.
