Title

Authorizing the Fire Department to pay for costs incurred to hold a graduation ceremony for the new firefighters on June 28, 2019 at the O'Shaughnessy Educational Center Auditorium.

 

Body

WHEREAS, the Saint Paul Fire Department will be hosting a joint formal graduation ceremony with the Minneapolis Fire Department for new firefighters on June 28, 2019 at the O'Shaughnessy Educational Center Auditorium; and

 

WHEREAS, the ceremony recognizes the achievement of the new firefighters and includes a reception where cake and punch will be served; and

 

WHEREAS, the expenditure of money for the cake and punch serves a public purpose by celebrating the successful graduates; and

 

WHEREAS, the Saint Paul Fire Department and the Minneapolis Fire Department will be splitting the cost of the graduation ceremony; now therefore, be it

 

RESOLVED, that the Saint Paul City Council hereby authorizes the expenditure of funds not to exceed $1,500 for the Saint Paul Fire Department portion of the reception of the graduating firefighters.
