Recognizing the City of Saint Paul’s participation in Welcoming Week 2025.

WHEREAS, Welcoming America is a non-profit, non-partisan organization that works to encourage and support communities to be more inclusive and welcoming towards immigrants, and
WHEREAS, each year in September Welcoming America supports and encourages local communities to host a series of events collectively known as Welcoming Week; and
Whereas, through these Welcoming Week events, organizations and communities bring together neighbors of all backgrounds to build strong connections across their communities and affirm the importance of welcoming and inclusive places in achieving collective prosperity; and
WHEREAS, this year Welcoming Week will take place from September 12th through 21st, and
WHEREAS, During Welcoming Week, communities across the country host events to bring together residents with roots in the United States as well as individuals born outside this country, including immigrants, refugees and New Americans, to celebrate and foster mutual understanding and belonging across the nation; and
WHEREAS, this resolution is joined by other Minnesota cities to stand together in maintaining a welcoming Minnesota where all who live here are welcomed, that fosters a sense of belonging and provides all who live here with an opportunity to contribute; and
WHEREAS, Saint Paul is recognized as a welcoming city whose success depends on ensuring that every resident feels they belong in the city they call home; and
WHEREAS, people who have traditional roots in Minnesota or arrive in Minnesota as immigrants, refugees, or newcomers, own homes, start businesses, and are valued members of our Saint Paul community; and
WHEREAS, by fostering a welcoming environment for all—regardless of immigration status, race, ethnicity, place of origin, English language proficiency, religion, income, gender, sexual orientation, differing abilities, age, and other factors—we enhance Saint Paul’s heal...
