Authorizing the Police Department Bomb Disposal Unit to accept a grant in the amount of $135,000 from the State of Minnesota Homeland Security Program.

WHEREAS, the City of Saint Paul, Police Department Bomb Disposal Unit has been awarded the 2020 State Homeland Security Program a federally funded grant, from the State of Minnesota Department of Public Safety, Homeland Security and Emergency Management Division in the amount of $135,000 for a term of January 1, 2020 through December 31, 2020; and

 

WHEREAS, this grant provides funding for upgrades and existing equipment maintenance which will improve safety and effectiveness while accomplishing purposes as specified; and

 

WHEREAS, this grant also provides funding for training in conjunction with other state teams training for land based and maritime based operations to meet federal standards and activity budget needs to be established; and

 

WHEREAS, the Mayor, Pursuant to Section 10.07.1 of the charter of the City of Saint Paul, does certify that there are available for appropriation total revenues in excess of those estimated in the budget, funds of $135,000 in the Police Department Grant Fund; now

 

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, by the Council of the City of Saint Paul, upon recommendation of the Mayor that $135,000 is available for appropriation in the Police Departments Grant Fund, as heretofore adopted and amended by this Council, be hereby further amended in the particulars as specified in the attached financial analysis.
